The current options are disconnected, complicated or even non-existent.

Decentralized Platform for Tokens and Smart Contracts
We are launching our EGT tokens from Malta as regulation-compliant Virtual Financial Asset (VFA) tokens and will be in compliance with the legal framework of the Virtual Financial Assets Act. EGTs are ERC20 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain and deployed via smart contract.
Each EGT token will be released with an assigned carbon value of 1kg CO2e to allow users to offset their lifestyle purchases and activities, by spending their tokens within our app.
All transactions and activity within the system will be managed by carefully programmed smart contracts. DLT technologies will be used to achieve high transparency and secure tracking of the offsets.

Professor Mike Berners-Lee
Mike is a Professor at Lancaster University and author of the books “How Bad are Bananas?” and “The Burning Question”.
He has extensive experience of developing carbon impact models and data gathering and has worked with a wide range of sectors, from supermarkets, to local councils to multi-national tech giants.
Renowned as a world-leader in carbon impact footprinting, Mike is an integral part of the development of our ECOSISTM and is developing the methodology that will be the foundation of our AI/ML-based data gathering.

This book by Mike Berners-Lee is a highly readable and entertaining introduction to carbon footprints. The carbon datasets that are used at Ecoingot were prepared by Mike and his colleagues at Small World Consulting.
